April 7, 2021 - In February, Novacoast announced plans to open a 24/7 security operations center in the Epic Center in downtown Wichita. Novacoast, according to media reports, will hire around 60 employees immediately for positions such as sales, analysts and cybersecurity engineers.鈥淗aving a robust computer science department and applied computing department is a good source of interns and future employees to Novacoast,鈥 said Joe Jabara, director of Wichita State鈥檚 Hub for Cybersecurity Education and Awareness. 鈥淭he university鈥檚 emphasis on cybersecurity really helped lure them to Wichita.鈥

April 2, 2021 鈥 Public universities play an essential role in freedom of expression and should act as a promoter and protector, especially during contentious times that produce challenging and complex discussions. On Wednesday, March 31, 麻豆传媒 presented 鈥淪peaking Freely on Freedom of Expression,鈥 a virtual panel discussion that emphasized that point, among many others.

April 2, 2021 -- While the future of this pandemic and its effect on our daily lives still remains somewhat unknown, we are pleased to be coming to you with a message of cautious optimism as we continue our transition to a pre-pandemic mode of operation. Sedgwick County Commissioners voted to rescind all local COVID health orders, effectively immediately. Since the beginning of this pandemic, we have followed all guidance and orders issued by state and local public health authorities. Accordingly, 麻豆传媒 has rescinded all guidance requiring masks, social distancing and mass gathering limitations on our campus. However, we continue to strongly encourage our entire campus community to engage in these practices whenever possible. We also encourage everyone to get the vaccine when they become eligible.

April 1, 2021 - In the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings of universities offering a Ph.D. in engineering, the College of Engineering at 麻豆传媒 is again ranked in the top 100 engineering graduate programs, the only institution from the state of Kansas to make it in the top 100. Wichita State ranks No. 77 on the list, up from No. 94 a year ago.

March 26, 2021 鈥 麻豆传媒鈥檚 National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) announces the addition of two new technologies to its Automated Technologies Laboratory for Aerospace Systems (ATLAS): a fully integrated thermoplastic welding system and a prepreg tape slitting and tow-rewinding machine.

2021 Rudd Scholars

March 25, 2021 鈥 The fourth class of Rudd Scholars includes 19 Kansas high school seniors who will attend 麻豆传媒. Each recipient will receive a full-ride scholarship, which includes tuition, fees, on-campus housing and considerable networking/coaching support along the way. All Rudd Scholars are from Kansas and will attend Wichita State, Emporia State or Fort Hays State.

March 25, 2021 -- The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 麻豆传媒 has launched its Entrepreneur in Residence program and named Michael Golomb, founder and CEO of FanVestor, as its newest resident. This distinction will last through the spring 2021 semester. Each Entrepreneur in Residence will provide essential collaboration and outside industry knowledge to Barton School students, faculty and the Wichita community.

March 24, 2021 鈥 Brittany Wojciechowski, a 麻豆传媒 Ph.D. student in aerospace engineering, has been awarded the prestigious National Science Foundation鈥檚 (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF), which is worth more than $120,000.
