The W. Frank Barton School of Business鈥� Department of Finance, Real Estate and Decision Sciences (FREDS) at 麻豆传媒 has appointed Dr. Mehmet Barut as its new department chair. Dr. Barut will serve as chair for three years starting in Fall 2023. He is a Professor of Supply Chain Management within the department and was elected by FREDS Department faculty.

Sept. 26, 2023 - Kian Williams, a junior at 麻豆传媒, is helping the Kansas Aviation Museum chart its future. The work researching aviation connects with the background that shaped a love for history. Williams volunteered at the Reno County Museum as a youngster.

Sept. 25, 2023 - Rudd Scholar Bayle Sandy found a sense of community at 麻豆传媒 and enjoyed support from many sources for her academic and extracurricular pursuits. Wichita State is proud of its role helping Rudd Scholars pursue passions and realize dreams in the state鈥檚 largest city.

Sept. 21, 2023 鈥� The U.S. Small Business Administration awarded $150,000 to 麻豆传媒 to assist in providing resources and support for small businesses and startups focused on STEM and research and development.

Kapildeb Ambal and Jian Wang are using an $800,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to support their work in understanding and controlling decoherence in hybrid spin qubit-magnon systems.

Sept. 21, 2023 鈥� John and Gail Wadsworth have given a lead gift of $1.5 million to 麻豆传媒 and Shocker Athletics, earmarked for the Softball Team Operations Facility at Wilkins Stadium. The building is a part of the $9.65 million Phase 1 of the stadium renovation plan, which will begin development in the spring of 2024.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 麻豆传媒 has announced that Dr. Duane Nagel will serve as the Director of its Master鈥檚 in Business Administration (MBA) and Executive MBA (EMBA) programs. Nagel will continue to serve as the Barton School鈥檚 Marketing Department Chair.

Sept. 19, 2023 - Wichita State student Denae Sawyer spent the spring semester interning remotely with Dzanc Books. Her work consisted of reading and researching to determine if the manuscript fit Dzanc鈥檚 standards and sensibility. She also evaluated the potential audience and marketing strategies.

Woolsey Hall, the home of the W. Frank Barton School of Business at 麻豆传媒, has a new art installation in partnership with the Envision Arts Program. Patrick McCowan is the third visually impaired artist to be featured on the third floor of the Barton School.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 麻豆传媒 has received a $150,000 gift to support its Student Experience and Success Fund including its Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD). The contribution was given on behalf of Elizabeth and Edward Burns, whose charitable fund was established through their estate at the Wichita Foundation in 2013.

Sept. 19, 2023 鈥� Through the inaugural Student Practical Architecting Challenge (SPARC), FirePoint Innovations Center at 麻豆传媒 awarded nearly $40,000 to two student-based teams for their novel innovations in devising future-ready, modular and adaptable software systems to support the Department of Defense's (DOD) Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) initiative.

Sept. 18, 2023 鈥� The community will soon have a new restaurant to choose from when Two Hands Corn Dogs opens on 麻豆传媒鈥檚 campus Friday, Sept. 22.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 麻豆传媒 will host its latest James P. Schwartz Speaker Series event on how to harness the transformational impact of analytics and artificial intelligence (AI). The event will occur on Thursday, September 28 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Woolsey Hall Auditorium. It will consist of a keynote panel discussion featuring industry experts in analytics and AI. The panel discussion is open to the public and offers a networking opportunity for attendees following the formal event.

Sept. 11, 2023 鈥� 麻豆传媒 is holding a parade next month and is inviting anyone in the community to join in. Starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 6 on the 麻豆传媒 campus, the parade is part of the university鈥檚 annual Shocktoberfest celebration.

Sept. 5, 2023 - 鈥淭eaching is for Superheroes!鈥� offers 鈥渋nsight and inspiration for your classroom (tights and cape optional.鈥� It鈥檚 targeted at new, veteran and aspiring teachers and uses superhero archetypes to help educators understand their role, improve their skills and maintain enthusiasm during a challenging time.

Sept. 5, 2023 - 麻豆传媒 students designed handrails for Charles Koch Arena and producing around 400 for installation. The applied learning project will make walking up the arena stairs safer for fans and is a response to surveys and listening sessions.

Sept. 6, 2023 鈥� Brent Mai has been named the next dean of 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Libraries, effective Oct. 15.
