Aug. 30, 2023 鈥� 麻豆传媒 has received the Gold Level Employer Supporting Breastfeeding award and has been designated as a Breastfeeding Welcome Here campus by the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition.

Aug. 28, 2023 - Kathy Downes, dean of University Libraries since 2017, came to Wichita State in 1979 as a biomedical librarian. She will retire this fall semester. Downes played a central role as Ablah Library expanded and the digital services of University Libraries grew in number and importance.

Aug. 28, 2023 鈥� Through the 麻豆传媒 chapter of Engineers without Borders, three Shockers recently began the process of working with the rural community of Mercedes de Agua Sucia in Manabi, Ecuador, to build a pedestrian bridge that will give residents safe passage to the main road and nearby cities to sell the goods and products from their farms, shop in nearby El Carmen, and for children to attend school.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 麻豆传媒 has announced Curt Coffman as its Fall 2023 Executive-in-Residence. Coffman is the founder of The Coffman Organization and co-author of New York Times bestsellers, 鈥淔irst Break All the Rules: What the World鈥檚 Greatest Managers Do Differently鈥� and 鈥淐ulture Eats Strategy for Lunch.鈥� As Executive-in-Residence, Coffman will provide mentorship opportunities to students, exchange ideas with Barton School faculty and staff, and host a conversation with industry leaders. The theme of his residency and title of his keynote presentation is 鈥淭he Power of You: New Formula for Growth!鈥� Following the keynote, Coffman will distribute and sign two of his books to those in attendance.

Aug. 15, 2023 - Hannah Bui is now prepared to work with French-speaking colleagues at Airbus, thanks to 鈥淏usiness French for Beginners鈥� taught by 麻豆传媒 lecturer Rachelle Swilley. Bui, a static stress engineer at Airbus, was one of about 15 employees who took the six-week course, taught for two hours each Friday, this summer at Airbus on 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Innovation Campus.

Aug. 14, 2023 鈥� Wichita State Dining is going high tech with the rollout of robotic food delivery on campus, thanks to a partnership with Starship Technologies.

Aug. 3, 2023 鈥� Bolstered by a $2 million National Science Foundation grant, a group of Wichita State researchers is hoping to create a paradigm shift from the use of harmful nitrous oxide-based fertilizers to more eco-friendly nitrogen fertilizers that would reduce greenhouse gases.

Aug. 3, 2023 鈥� The office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Logistics and Product Support has sponsored a contract through the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) to award 麻豆传媒鈥檚 National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) a five-year $100 million cooperative agreement for digital engineering and technologies to support sustainment of legacy U.S. Air Force platforms.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 麻豆传媒 has announced that Tadd Fowler, Senior Vice President, Treasurer and Global Taxes at The Procter & Gamble Company, joined the Barton School Dean鈥檚 Advisory Board.

Aug. 1, 2023 鈥� The Wichita City Council approved a plan today that will move forward a project between 麻豆传媒 and the University of Kansas to build a 471,000-square-foot health sciences center in the heart of downtown Wichita.

July 28, 2023 - Eight students representing six 麻豆传媒 colleges recently participated in the Lead for Tomorrow Leadership Academy in the Cohen Honors College. Five faculty members led the interdisciplinary course presenting content from their field focused on the theme 鈥淐onnected Leadership: Creating a Community of Leaders.鈥� Students then were tasked to apply course content to challenges presented by local community partners.

July 20, 2023 - As 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Innovation Campus approaches its 10th anniversary, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities is recognizing the Innovation Campus鈥� role in cultivating research and innovation. The APLU today named 麻豆传媒 as one of five finalists for its 11th annual Innovation & Economic Prosperity (IEP) University Awards.

July 17, 2023 鈥� 麻豆传媒鈥檚 College of Engineering has updated one of its programs to create a more strategic career pathway for its graduates and meet the needs of business and industry. Effective fall 2023, the new applied engineering program 鈥� formerly engineering technology 鈥� has been adapted based on feedback from employers and alumni.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 麻豆传媒 has been reaffirmed for all business and accounting programs by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for the next five years. This double accreditation keeps the Barton School in the top 1% of business schools worldwide. The Barton School has held AACSB accreditation since 1970.

July 11, 2023 鈥� The Accessible Design course concerned 麻豆传媒 junior Reagan Kelley at first. She wasn鈥檛 an engineering major and wasn鈥檛 sure what she could contribute. The payoff at the end of the project made it worthwhile. Kelley, an exercise science major, and three other students modified an all-terrain wheelchair for a nine-year-old boy who outgrew the chair鈥檚 previous dimensions.

July 10, 2023 鈥� A new Jersey Mike鈥檚 Subs is set to open Wednesday, July 12 in 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Braeburn Square on the Innovation Campus.

The Widener Global Leaders Program (WGLP) has announced that Barbara Shrut, president of SLB Advisors, will be joining its illustrious advisory board. The WGLP program is led by the W. Frank Barton School of Business and directed by Dean Larisa Genin in collaboration with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the College of Fine Arts at 麻豆传媒. It is an interdisciplinary program designed to create a transformational experience and foster an inclusive community for women majoring in business, communications or fine arts aimed at developing the next generation of global and transformational female leaders.
