March 24, 2022 鈥� A new initiative by Wichita State鈥檚 Public Policy Management Center and Sedgwick County is helping connect community members to resources that could help with economic recovery efforts. Recovery Connect focuses on helping people, small businesses and non-profits find existing resources in the community.

March 24, 2022 鈥� Around 12-15 Wichita State students are volunteering for the practices and events surrounding the NCAA women's basketball Sweet 16 and Elite Eight games. Their responsibilities range from organizing practice schedules to decorating locker rooms with NCAA and school logos to working with media members on credentialing and seating. For those planning on a career in athletics, the applied learning experience adds to their resume and gives them experience working a nationally recognized event with large crowds and a television audience.

March 23, 2022 鈥� The 麻豆传媒 Foundation has secured a $540,000 lead gift from Meritrust Credit Union to expand the W. Frank Barton School of Business鈥� career efforts with the formation of the Office of Career and Professional Development.

March 23, 2022 鈥� The School of Nursing at 麻豆传媒 has received a $35,000 endowed scholarship gift from retired faculty member Shirley Hazen through the Shirley E. Hazen RN-BSN Endowed Nursing Scholarship.

March 22, 2022 鈥� The fifth class of Rudd Scholars includes 16 Kansas high school seniors who will attend 麻豆传媒.

March 16, 2022 鈥� Further expanding its reach of access and affordability, 麻豆传媒 has added 11 cities to its Shocker City Partnership 鈥� meaning eligible students from those cities are offered in-state tuition rates to attend 麻豆传媒.

March 14. 2022 鈥� Things are shaking in Wichita with the Kansas Modification Center鈥檚 777-300ERCF conversion program at 麻豆传媒鈥檚 National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR). The team at NIAR WERX completed ground vibration testing last month.

March 14, 2022鈥擳wo Wichita State researchers and a student group have been awarded the John A. See Innovation Award. The award is given each year as a way to recognize novel ideas that have the potential to meet a market need and attract further funding once they have advanced through the early prototyping phase.

March 10, 2022 鈥� 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Molecular Diagnostics Lab has been awarded the Jiggs Nelson Quality of Life 2022 award for its lifesaving and heroic work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

March 10, 2022 鈥� 麻豆传媒 President Rick Muma has launched a new podcast, called 鈥淔orward Together,鈥� where the president speaks with guests from throughout Shocker Nation to highlight the people and priorities that guide 麻豆传媒. The podcast drops monthly, with the March edition releasing March 9. Some of the guests so far include Hollywood director Dean Hargrove, 麻豆传媒 basketball coach Isaac Brown and 麻豆传媒 research vice president Coleen Pugh.

On March 9, 2022, the B-1 System Program Office (SPO), Tinker AFB, OK awarded a six-year, $100 million follow-on contract to 麻豆传媒鈥檚 National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) to continue the B-1鈥檚 Digital Engineering (DE) transformation. The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) helped form the strategic partnership and created a flexible contract structure, which allows NIAR and the B-1 SPO to adapt requirements real-time to meet critical warfighter needs.

March 7, 2022 鈥� Tom Gentile, president and CEO of Spirit AeroSystems, has been named as the newest member of the Dean鈥檚 Advisory Board for Wichita State鈥檚 W. Frank Barton School of Business.

March 7, 2022 - Wichita State alums Matt and Stephanie Clark taught English to students from fifth grade to high school in Ukraine from 2006-08 as Peace Corps members. Their friends and their warm memories are in turmoil as the Russian invasion wears on in their adopted country. They rely on social media to hear from former students, host families and friends, as they try to sort good information from bad and bring attention to the crisis.

March 4, 2022 - Nelsen Petersen, a Wichita State alum, is a high school teacher, author, filmmaker and running enthusiast who developed strong connections with Ukraine during his travels. Later this month, he plans to go to Cluj-Napoca, a Romanian city near Ukraine to help in refugee camps. He wants to spend four or five days during his spring break in the region.

March 3, 2022 鈥� In accordance with recently updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, effective Friday, March 4, masks will no longer be required for students, employees or visitors, regardless of vaccination status, while on or in 麻豆传媒 premises or while attending campus activities or athletic events (unless otherwise noted). This includes all indoor and outdoor campus locations.
