April 15, 2022 鈥 Deborah J. (Davis) Bardo, former first lady of 麻豆传媒, died April 15, 2022. Mrs. Bardo was married to 麻豆传媒鈥檚 13th president, Dr. John Bardo, for 44 years until his death on March 12, 2019. She is survived by their son, Christopher.

April 15, 2022 - MagicHand, an anthropomorphic robotic hand designed by a 麻豆传媒 engineering team, is participating in the National Science Foundation Innovation Corps program. The MagicHand is designed to achieve various dexterous object manipulations including object sorting, arranging and packaging.

April 14, 2022 鈥 Dr. Shirley Lefever has been named as 麻豆传媒鈥檚 next executive vice president and provost, effective immediately.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 麻豆传媒 has surpassed seven figures in annual scholarships for its students, with funds being distributed throughout the 2021-2022 season. It鈥檚 the first time the Barton School has reached this major milestone, which was made possible by a collection of substantial funds given to the Barton School by generous donors and supporters. This achievement is another example of how Wichita State prioritizes the goal of providing an accessible, affordable and impactful higher education for all students.

Wichita State is the first institution of higher learning in Kansas to receive this designation. April 1, 2022 鈥 What do you picture when you think of lasers? Laser pointers? Perhaps laser eye surgery or barcode scanners? Turns out there鈥檚 more to lasers than most people realize, and a 麻豆传媒 chemistry team recently discovered a new series of laser material with potential commercial use.

March 30, 2022 - The vision for varsity esports at Wichita State encompasses much more than people gaming on Cybertron Computers and wearing a Logitech Headset. While gaming success is important, the program is also seen as way to provide extra-curricular activity and applied learning for students in disciplines across campus. Travis Yang, hired in December as 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Esports director, wants to build a program that follows that direction.

March 29, 2022 鈥 In the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings of universities offering a Ph.D. in engineering, the College of Engineering at 麻豆传媒 once again was ranked in the top 100 engineering graduate programs in the country and the only institution in Kansas to make it in the top 100.

March 28, 2022 鈥 Grammy-nominated rap star, actor and advocate Wale will perform in concert at 麻豆传媒 at 8 p.m. Friday, April 15, in Charles Koch Arena.

2022 Wallace Scholars

March 25, 2022 鈥斅犅槎勾解檚 College of Engineering has named the latest group of high school seniors to join the Wallace Scholar program. Ten Wallace Scholarship recipients will receive $28,500 each to attend Wichita State for four years. In addition, two students receiving other major university scholarships will be designated as Wallace Scholars.
