The Clayton Staples Gallery is proud to present Illustrated Nature, an exhibition of works by printmaker Joanne Price.
Joanne Price (she/her) holds a Master of Fine Arts in printmaking from the University of Minnesota (2002), and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking from Buffalo State College (1997). Price has 30 years of print experience including teaching at the University of Kentucky, Augsburg College, University of Minnesota, Penland School of Crafts, John C. Campbell Folk School. She mastered her printmaking skills at Highpoint Center for Printmaking as a moku hanga professional printer and as their print shop manager.
Joanne Price is founder and owner of Starpointe Studio, specializing in original prints, book arts, and letterpress. Price also collaborates with letterpress publishers like Larkspur Press and October Press, doing wood engraved book illustrations for authors, such as Wendell Berry, Barbara Kingsolver, Sena Jeter Naslund, Silas House, Frank X Walker and more. Price’s work has been exhibited at Bankside Gallery (London), Washington Printmakers Gallery (D.C.), Davidson Galleries (Seattle), and many other national and international venues in over 125 group exhibitions. Her work is represented in public collections including: Guangdong Museum of Art (China), Museu da Casa Xilogravura, (Brazil); Walker Art Center, Ashmolean Museum, Yale University, University of Colorado, Vanderbilt University, and many more.
Price is President Emeritus of the Wood Engravers’ Network (2014–2020) and an elected member of the Society of Wood Engravers since 2016.
