Transfer students who have completed 24 or more hours of approved college curricula at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution since their high school graduation date, before starting classes at 麻豆传媒 as a degree-bound student, will have the option of following either:

A. The 麻豆传媒 General Education Program Requirements

B. The Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) Transfer and Articulation General Education Policy

A. 麻豆传媒 General Education Program requirements

  • The 麻豆传媒 General Education Program requires 36 credit hours*:
      • 12 hours of Foundation courses, including:
        • 6 hours of English Composition (ENGL 100 or ENGL 101 and ENGL 102)
        • 3 hours of Public Speaking (COMM 111)
        • 3 hours of college-level Mathematics (Algebra) (MATH 111,  MATH 112 or MATH 131*)
          *MATH 111 or any math course that requires MATH 111 or MATH 112 as a prerequisite. MATH 131 does not fulfill the prerequisite
          for any further math course. MATH 131 does not meet degree requirements in all colleges.
      • 12 hours of Divisional Courses, including:
        • 3 hours of a Fine Arts course
        • 3 hours of a Humanities course
        • 3 hours of a Social and Behavioral Sciences course
        • 3 hours of a Mathematics & Natural Sciences course
      • 12 hours of Additional Courses, including:
        • Four additional general education courses from at least two of these divisions:  Fine Arts/Humanities, Social/Behavioral Sciences, Mathematics and Natural Sciences.  
        • One course must be a first-year seminar.  Starting Fall 2021, first-year students must take a First-Year Seminar (FYS) course during their first two semesters at 麻豆传媒. The FYS counts as one of the four courses under 'Additional Requirements' and counts as one of the two different divisions in that category.
      • *At least 9 credit hours of the 36-credit-hour general education coursework must be numbered 300 or above. One course in the major can count toward general education.
    • General Education courses are 麻豆传媒 courses that are on the approved list (see the ) and those transfer courses identified in 麻豆传媒鈥檚 database as meeting 麻豆传媒 General Education guidelines. Gen Ed transfer courses by Kansas institution can be accessed using the .
    • How a course transfers -- the 麻豆传媒 equivalency -- determines its division (Fine Arts/Humanities, Social & Behavioral Sciences, etc.), not the subject area or division at the sending institution.
    • Completion of the University General Education requirements does not mean that specific college course requirements have been met, even though those courses at 麻豆传媒 might also be Gen Ed courses.
    • Fine Arts Exception:

      The Bachelor of Applied Arts (BAA) in media arts requires 30 credit hours of general education courses. In addition to the foundation courses, students in the BAA in media arts take one course each from humanities, social / behavioral science, and mathematics / natural sciences with an additional three courses selected from at least two divisions. Of the 30 general education credit hours, at least 6 credit hours must be numbered 300 or above. Fine arts courses do not fulfill general education requirements for the BAA in media arts.

      Transfer Students with Associate Degrees

      Community College Transfers

      A student transferring to 麻豆传媒 having earned an AA or AS degree from a Kansas public community college will be considered to have satisfied 麻豆传媒鈥檚 general education curriculum provided that they successfully complete at 麻豆传媒 (with a grade of C- or better) two general education courses numbered 300 or above. The two courses must be in two separate subject areas. Students must also complete the foundation skills courses of ENGL 101 and ENGL 102, COMM 111, and MATH 111 or equivalent

      RN-to-BSN and Dental Hygiene Degree Completion Students

      • A student enrolled in 麻豆传媒鈥檚 RN-to-BSN degree completion program having earned an associate degree in nursing will be considered to have satisfied 麻豆传媒鈥檚 general education curriculum provided that they successfully complete (with a grade of C- or better) two general education courses numbered 300 or above taken at 麻豆传媒.
      • A student enrolled in 麻豆传媒鈥檚 dental hygiene degree completion program having earned an associate degree in dental hygiene will be considered to have satisfied 麻豆传媒鈥檚 general education curriculum provided that they successfully complete (with a grade of C- or better) two general education courses numbered 300 or above taken at 麻豆传媒.

B. Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) Transfer and Articulation Policy (2007)

The Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) Transfer and Articulation Policy (2007) indicates that to satisfy 鈥渢he general education requirements for the bachelor degree of all Kansas public universities, a minimum of 45 credit hours of general education with distribution in the following fields will be required.鈥 These courses must be approved for general education.

  • 12 hours of Foundation courses, including:
    • 6 hours of English Composition
    • 3 hours of Public Speaking or Speech Communication
    • 3 hours of college level Mathematics (Algebra)
  • 12 hours of Humanities courses from at least 3 of the following disciplines:
    • Art History
    • Music (not performance courses)
    • Communication
    • Dance, Theatre (not performance courses)
    • History
    • English or Literature
    • Philosophy
    • Modern Languages (3rd semester or above)
    • Women鈥檚 Studies
    • Religion
  • 12 hours of Social and Behavioral Science courses from at least 3 of the following disciplines:
    • Anthropology
    • Ethnic Studies

    • Criminal Justice
    • Geography
    • Sociology
    • Economics
    • Political Science
    • Social Work
  • 9 hours of Mathematics, Natural/Physical Science courses from at least two disciplines:
    • Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, Mathematics (one science course must include a lab)
