Shocktoberfest parade

Aug. 29, 2024 - 麻豆传媒 is welcoming vendors for its fall Shocktoberfest celebration. The deadline for merchants and vendors to join in the Shocktoberfest Family Weekend events is Aug. 31.Shocktoberfest is a public event Sept. 30-Oct. 5 open to the entire campus and Wichita-area community. It is 麻豆传媒's biggest annual celebration of Shocker pride.

April 12, 2024 鈥 With two young children at home, U.S. Air Force Major Jade Driggs needed to learn to ask and accept help from others while she was working toward her Ph.D. in human factors psychology. She chose 麻豆传媒 for its impressive human factors psychology program and the university鈥檚 commitment to diversity and inclusion.

April 19, 2023 - Wichita State鈥檚 select team boasts a local contingent not found on rosters since the program鈥檚 early days in the 1970鈥檚. Wichita State鈥檚 bowling teams are in Las Vegas this week for the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles and Team Championships.

March 30, 2022 - The vision for varsity esports at Wichita State encompasses much more than people gaming on Cybertron Computers and wearing a Logitech Headset. While gaming success is important, the program is also seen as way to provide extra-curricular activity and applied learning for students in disciplines across campus. Travis Yang, hired in December as 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Esports director, wants to build a program that follows that direction.

Aug. 24, 2021 -- We've lived through a pandemic since March 2020, but knowing about Zoom Etiquette is still important.

Lydia Melles and Lucy Hoang, 麻豆传媒 computer science major students, work on an autonomous robot that uses ultraviolet C-lights (UVC) to fight COVID-19 at the McConnell Air Force Base Innovation Lab.  The two senior students partnered with the McConnell Innovation Lab as part of their is part of their senior design class.

May 12, 2021 鈥 Two 麻豆传媒 seniors have partnered with the McConnell Air Force Base Innovation Lab to help fight COVID-19 鈥 by using robotics. Computer science majors Lucy Hoang and Lydia Melles are creating an autonomous robot that uses ultraviolet C-lights (UVC) to clean grocery stores.

February 23, 2021 鈥 The purpose of the Wichita State Upward Bound Program is to improve participants鈥 academic performance, to assist with enrolling into a post-secondary institution and to ensure enrolled participants will graduate from their chosen program.

November 9, 2020 - KPTS recognized 麻豆传媒 Military & Veteran Services with its Distinguished Veterans Coming Home Business Award in a special program that aired on Nov. 5 on Channel 8. 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Military & Veteran Services provides assistance with Veteran Affairs educational benefits, provides counseling, testing and other service. It connects military students with opportunities for campus involvement. Larry Burks Sr., is the director of Military & Veteran Services.

Aug. 11, 2020 鈥 The city of Wichita鈥檚 transit department will be assuming operations of the Shocker bus service beginning Aug. 17. There will be a total of four 麻豆传媒 routes, beginning Aug. 17.

Nov. 11, 2019 -- Richard Martin was only 18 years old when he was drafted into the Army Air Corps. Now he鈥檚 94 years old and the last living member of his squadron.聽On Wednesday, Nov. 6, the students of 麻豆传媒 102 鈥淚nnovations of WWII鈥 met him in the Ablah Library C-Space.

United States flag and crisis hotline card

Nov. 6, 2019 - The 22 flags represent a rough estimate of suicides daily involving veterans, according to Veterans Administration statistics, Levi Schenk said. Twenty-two flags planted for 16 days of the campaign equals 352 flags, which Schenk said represents the year-to-date estimates for active-duty military personnel. A veterans crisis hotline card is attached to each flag. Participants are encouraged to take the card and take a selfie with the card. They post the picture to social media with the #SVO22 hashtag. Each selfie with a valid card enters the person into a drawing for an Amazon gift card on Nov. 12.
