Feb. 11, 2022 鈥 As a young boy growing up in Oklahoma City Nicolas Reyes loved to hear the hum of the fighter jets from the nearby Tinker Air Force Base. Nicolas Reyes 鈥 a junior studying electrical engineering in Wichita State鈥檚 Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering 鈥 has always wanted to work in the aviation industry. He finally got his chance this past summer when he completed a virtual internship with Lockheed Martin. While there, Nicolas worked on the F-35 Lightning II for their location in Fort Worth.
Feb. 9, 2022 鈥 A bequest from the estate of Richard "Dick" Smith will provide about $5.5 million each to 麻豆传媒 and the University of Kansas to endow full-ride scholarships for students at those schools.
Feb. 4, 2022 鈥 Ella Tucker, senior at Epic Charter Schools in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has been awarded the 2022 麻豆传媒 Clay Barton Scholarship. She will receive $12,500 a year for four years to attend Wichita State. The $50,000 Barton Scholarship is one of the largest business scholarships in Kansas.
Jan. 28, 2022 鈥斅槎勾 has selected the 2022 recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarships. Each student will receive a $64,000 scholarship to attend WSU in fall 2022.
Jan. 24, 2022 鈥 Valeria Paunetto, originally from Puerto Rico, won the Adelante Scholarship in 2021, which has helped her pursue a degree in social work at Wichita State.
Jan. 20, 2022 鈥 The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation has awarded a grant of $243,922 to a 麻豆传媒 researcher for his work on an app that will allow people who are visually impaired to read comic books, graphic novels and other digitized graphic materials on their devices.
