Commencement ceremony

Oct. 6, 2020 -- Students who graduated from 麻豆传媒 this past spring and summer will finally get their chance to walk across the stage to be recognized in a formal commencement ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in Charles Koch Arena.

Paralympic wheelchair tennis team

Sept. 16, 2020 - Deja Young is a returning Paralympian in track and a Wichita State alumna. Casey Ralzlaff is a first-time Paralympic hopeful in wheelchair tennis and current student at Wichita State. Both of their sports are cancelled due to COVID-19.

Sept. 15, 2020 -- With holiday travel season on the horizon, a just-released annual forecast from Dean Headley, co-author of the Airline Quality Rating and associate professor emeritus at 麻豆传媒, offers new insights into making travel plans in these extraordinary times.

Dr. Breanna Boppre

Sept. 8, 2020 鈥斅燘reanna Boppre, assistant professor of criminal justice, will discuss the implications of COVID-19 for correctional agencies nationwide and in Kansas. Boppre's talk is part of the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences' Perspectives on the pandemic series.

Students can visit the Counseling and Preventions Services center for $10 per session.

Aug. 19. 2020 鈥 The first talk in Wichita State鈥檚 Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences 鈥淧erspectives on the Pandemics: Part II鈥 series will feature Dinorah Azpuru. A professor of political science, Azpuru researches issues related to democracy. Her talk, 鈥淒emocracy in the world in times of COVID-19,鈥 will explore how the pandemic has affected democratic societies globally.

Aug. 14, 2020 -- Thursday the Sedgwick County Commission took a giant step forward against the spread of COVID-19 by partnering with 麻豆传媒鈥檚 new Molecular Diagnostic Lab (MDL) to increase lab testing capacity for nasopharyngeal swab testing and saliva testing.

July 22, 2020 - The 麻豆传媒 College of Engineering sponsors GoBabyGo, an interdisciplinary program that modifies toy cars for use by children with disabilities. The COVID-19 pandemic interrupted the semester and several students returned over the past month to help finish and deliver the six cars.

July 16, 2020 - 麻豆传媒鈥 is making plans to establish a 鈥疌LIA-certified 鈥疢olecular Diagnostic Laboratory, with the goal of bringing to bring large-scale COVID-19 testing to the region by the end of 2020. Large-scale testing is critical to opening the Wichita region and helping people return to school and work in a safe environment. With 鈥痶he number of COVID cases on the rise, the need for adequate, reliable, and affordable testing is more crucial than ever.

God Save the Wings logo

July 13, 2020 - Three 麻豆传媒 alumni wrote, produced and organized "God Save the Wings," a documentary about the glory days of the Wichita Wings professional indoor soccer club from its founding in 1979 into the early 1980s. 鈥淕od Save the Wings鈥 debuted on February 22 at the Orpheum Theatre and it went so well that organizers planned to show it again on April 10. Then the COVID-19 pandemic changed their schedule and their hopes of entering it in film festivals around the world are largely on hold until the fall.
