Lydia Melles and Lucy Hoang, 麻豆传媒 computer science major students, work on an autonomous robot that uses ultraviolet C-lights (UVC) to fight COVID-19 at the McConnell Air Force Base Innovation Lab.  The two senior students partnered with the McConnell Innovation Lab as part of their is part of their senior design class.

May 12, 2021 鈥 Two 麻豆传媒 seniors have partnered with the McConnell Air Force Base Innovation Lab to help fight COVID-19 鈥 by using robotics. Computer science majors Lucy Hoang and Lydia Melles are creating an autonomous robot that uses ultraviolet C-lights (UVC) to clean grocery stores.

March 17, 2021 -- With the help of Koch Industries, Make48 is bringing its 48-hour collaborative inventor and maker challenge to Wichita. 麻豆传媒鈥檚 GoCreate, A Koch Collaborative will host the event scheduled for June 24-26.

In 2014, John A. See donated $1 million to provide prizes to Wichita State faculty and students conducting outstanding research.

Feb. 23, 2021 鈥 麻豆传媒鈥檚聽Center for Entrepreneurship聽(CEI) has granted two students the聽Women for Women's Innovation Award聽鈥 one who wants to create an app to help drivers in the event of a car crash, the other who wants to open a boutique for sustainable clothing.

The Vizling app will help visually impaired people read comic books.

Feb. 3, 2021 鈥 Kapow! Zap! Pop! Zoinks! A 麻豆传媒 researcher is working to develop an app to make those words come alive for visually impaired comic book readers, Dr. Darren DeFrain, associate professor of English and director of Wichita State鈥檚 writing program, has recently been granted $11,000 from the John A. See Innovation Award to develop Vizling.

Feb. 2, 2021 - Hanna Chastain, a junior biology major from Wichita, will present virtually at the National Council on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) conference in April. Her presentation is titled 鈥淒evelopment of PARROT, a Wireless Orofacial Myofunctional Imaging and Pressure Mapping Device.鈥

The Single Patient Stethoscope鈩 from Ad Astra Medical Devices, LLC, boasts a sturdy, lightweight design engineered for maximum performance in today鈥檚 demanding medical environments.

NASA Suits

Nov. 16, 2020 鈥 A diverse team of Wichita State students spent four weeks finalizing a proposal for the NASA SUITS design challenge, a competition created to get college students to participate in NASA's Artemis mission.

Sept. 23, 2020 - Darren Defrain is the social professor of English and director of the writing program at Wichita State. Defrain has written novels, memoirs and essays, created a graphic novel, teaches on graphic novels/storytelling and is actively working on a graphic novel app.

September 4, 2020 - 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Instructional Design and Access team, part of the Media Resource Center, worked with faculty over the summer to continue to improve hybrid learning. IDA took its one-day Academic Resources Conference and turned it into a week of training, via Zoom, in June and again in August before classes started. Another week is scheduled in January to prepare spring classes.

To assist with those efforts, 麻豆传媒 President Dr. Jay Golden has created the President鈥檚聽Innovation聽and聽Business聽Advisory聽Council. A selection of area business leaders will be invited to attend monthly council meetings to advise and support Wichita State leadership on a number of critical areas.
