Nov. 30, 2022 - Wichita State earned 鈥淢ost Engaged Campus for College Student Voting鈥� recognition from ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. It is one of 394 colleges and universities recognized for making intentional, nonpartisan efforts to increase student voter participation.

Aug. 19, 2022 - With initiatives such as roundtable discussions, early voting and voter registration drives, 麻豆传媒 earned a Highly Established Action Plan Seal from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. Wichita State is one of 82 colleges and universities recognized for its commitment to increasing nonpartisan democratic engagement in 2022.

Aug. 17, 2022 - Civic engagement and freedom of expression through conversations is the goal for 麻豆传媒 students as they participate in StoryCorps鈥� One Small Step program. Designed to 鈥渞emind the country of the humanity in all of us,鈥� One Small Step brings together people with different political views together to record a moderated 50-minute conversation.

March 23, 2022 鈥� Robert M. Gates, U.S. secretary of defense from 2006-2011 and former director of the CIA, will kick off 麻豆传媒鈥檚 inaugural Craig W. Barton Speaker Series this spring.

March 10, 2022 鈥� 麻豆传媒 President Rick Muma has launched a new podcast, called 鈥淔orward Together,鈥� where the president speaks with guests from throughout Shocker Nation to highlight the people and priorities that guide 麻豆传媒. The podcast drops monthly, with the March edition releasing March 9. Some of the guests so far include Hollywood director Dean Hargrove, 麻豆传媒 basketball coach Isaac Brown and 麻豆传媒 research vice president Coleen Pugh.

April 8, 2021 鈥� As part of the Benjamin J. and Bettie M. Gibson Breeding Lectureship, Institute for the Study of Economic Growth at the W. Frank Barton School of Business at 麻豆传媒 will present Adam Thierer at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 14.

April 2, 2021 鈥� Public universities play an essential role in freedom of expression and should act as a promoter and protector, especially during contentious times that produce challenging and complex discussions. On Wednesday, March 31, 麻豆传媒 presented 鈥淪peaking Freely on Freedom of Expression,鈥� a virtual panel discussion that emphasized that point, among many others.

March 1, 2021 - 麻豆传媒 will present a virtual panel on freedom of expression from 3-4:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 31. The event will be moderated by Lee Pelton, a 麻豆传媒 alumnus who has been president of Emerson College in Boston the past 10 years.

Feb. 19, 2021 鈥� Dr. Neal Allen is no stranger to controversy, nor are his students. In fact, he prides himself on teaching his students to freely engage in civil discourse on highly contentious topics.

Feb. 1, 2021 鈥� Five minutes of scrolling through social media, and it鈥檚 evident that many people need a lesson in civil discourse. 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) is working to change that through Real Talk discussions to promote respectful dialogue among people with varying viewpoints.
