Oct. 21, 2021 - The Shocker Career Accelerator organized the AAC Virtual Career Fair on Oct. 28 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.). All 11 full members of the American Athletic Conference will participate (although the event is not connected to the athletic departments or conference).

Oct. 20, 2021 鈥� While Lauryn McIntyre, who is majoring in marketing with a minor in personal selling, is growing out of her comfort zone in her internship, she isn鈥檛 doing it without support. Oct. 11, 2021 - Louisa Brunt, from Manchester, England, transferred to Wichita State from Texas Tech University to golf and to earn her master鈥檚 degree in criminal justice. Brunt graduated from Texas Tech, where she earned Academic All-Big 12 honors three times, with a major in criminology and a minor in forensic science. Brunt expects her career path to take her into police work or the FBI.

Oct. 7, 2021 鈥� The Federal Aviation Administration recently awarded $7.3 million to 麻豆传媒鈥檚 National Institute for Aviation Research for advanced materials research, providing significant funding for additive and other advanced manufacturing research programs, ranging from qualification and characterization to specialized programs that address specific technical challenges.

Oct. 4, 2021 鈥� The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders has received a gift to create the Audiology Simulation Lab at 麻豆传媒. The lab contains five state-of-the-art Canadian Audiology simulator for Research and Learning (CARL) manikins and auxiliary equipment.

Oct. 3, 2021 鈥� Wichita State is partnering with Gov. Laura Kelly and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment in an initiative to increase COVID-19 vaccinations to underrepresented communities across Kansas.

Oct, 1, 2021 - The 777 conversion program will provide unique applied learning opportunities for 麻豆传媒 engineering and 麻豆传媒 Tech students. NIAR鈥檚 ability to provide applied learning experience for students will expand with a $2.1 million grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration for the purchase and installation of equipment for the institute鈥檚 Flight Test Research Center and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility on South Oliver near Spirit AeroSystems.

Oct. 1, 2021 鈥� Before he could even walk, JW Webster could do something only a handful of other people in the world could do: speak the Cherokee language. Today Webster is one of only 1,200 people who can fluently read, write and speak the indigenous language 鈥� which is ranked as one of the most difficult languages to learn. In August, Webster鈥檚 sacred knowledge became part of 麻豆传媒鈥檚 applied linguistics program through a new class, Elementary Cherokee I (LING 590).

Sept. 27, 2021 鈥� 麻豆传媒 has been chosen to host the 2023 Science Olympiad National Tournament, bringing national STEM notoriety to the university and up to 7,000 visitors and tourists to Wichita.

Sept. 27, 2021 鈥� A new 麻豆传媒 mental health clinic is helping its clients take a positive and proactive approach to their mental health. The 麻豆传媒 Integrated Support and Empowerment (WISE) Clinic offers comprehensive counseling services to everyone in the Wichita community, and all services are free of charge.

Sept. 24, 2021 鈥� 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Hughes Metropolitan Complex has switched to drive-thru testing 鈥� a move that will allow the Wichita community to spend less time in line and get test results faster. The Metroplex Testing Site (5015 East 29th St. North) is open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Results of the PCR test are available within 24-36 hours after testing. No appointment is needed.

Sept. 23, 2021 鈥� The show must go on, and thanks to Wichita State鈥檚 Molecular Diagnostics Lab, Music Theatre Wichita has been able to keep its doors open to audiences.

Sept. 23, 2021 鈥� 麻豆传媒 will participate in Festi-Ful 鈥� one of the nation鈥檚 largest street food festivals, taking place across 300 U.S. colleges and universities 鈥� 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24 at 2020 Perimeter Road by Shocker Hall on the 麻豆传媒 campus.
