Post-Completion Optional Practical Training (OPT) Tutorial
Appointment with Advisor
You are now ready to schedule an OPT appointment with an International Student Advisor
by calling 316-978-3232. When selecting your appointment time, please be advised of
the following:
- The appointment will take about one hour.
- We cannot help you file for OPT during our Walk-In Advising hours as that time is reserved for quick immigration-related questions and is not used for processing any forms.
- If all documents are in order and acceptable, the International Student Advisor will make a recommendation for OPT in the SEVIS system and print a new I-20.
- The program end date on Page 1 of the I-20 will be updated to reflect the actual date of your program completion. However, the requested OPT end date on page 2 will extend your F-1 status.
- At the end of the appointment you will receive the completed OPT packet, ready to be mailed.
Need to review the checklist of items required for your OPT application?
Please remember: If you arrive for your appointment and your documents are incomplete, copies are missing, or copies/photos are not to the stated specifications, the advisor may reschedule your appointment for another date and time.
