Loan Entrance Counseling

What is Entrance Counseling?

If you borrow Direct Subsidized Loans or Direct Unsubsidized Loans, you are required to complete counseling before receiving your first loans.  This counseling educates you (the loan borrower) about your responsibilities and obligations for the loan(s), as well as how to avoid delinquency and default.

Undergraduate Students: Your entrance counseling will fulfill counseling requirements for Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans. 

Graduate Students: Your entrance counseling will fulfill counseling requirements for Direct Unsubsidized Loans and Direct PLUS loans.

What You Need to Complete the Counseling

  • Your FSA ID
  • Your school name (麻豆传媒 - school code 001950)
  • Information regarding your estimated income, financial aid, and living expenses

How to Complete Entrance Counseling

  • Login to .
  • On your Dashboard page, look at the "Quick Links" box at the right and click on "Entrance Counseling."

Once completed, allow 1-2 business days for your counseling to be received by the Office of Financial Aid.

How to Complete an MPN:

Student loan borrowers are also required to complete and maintain an active Master Promissory Note (MPN) before receiving their loans. The MPN is a legal agreement in which you promise to repay the loan(s) and any accrued interest and fees to the lender or loan holder.  There is one MPN for Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans and a different MPN for Direct PLUS Loans.  

Student Borrowers:
  • Login to .
  • Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan Borrowers:
    • Select "Loans and Grants" tab at the top of the screen and click on "Master Promissory Note (MPN)."
    • If you are an Undergraduate student - click on the 鈥楽tart鈥� button to the right of the 鈥淚鈥檓 an Undergraduate Student.鈥� 
    • If you are a Graduate student  - click on the 鈥楽tart鈥� button to the right of 鈥淚鈥檓 a Graduate Student.鈥� 
    • Click on the "Start" button next to the MPN for Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans. 
    • Once completed, allow 1-2 business days for your counseling to be received at Wichita State.
  • PLUS Loan for Graduate Student Borrowers:
    • Select "Loans and Grants" tab at the top of the screen and click on "Master Promissory Note (MPN)."
    • Click on the "Select MPN Type" button next to the 鈥淚鈥檓 a Graduate Student鈥� section.
    • Click on the "Start" button next to the MPN for Direct PLUS Loans.
    • Once completed, allow 1-2 business days for your counseling to be received at Wichita State.
Parent PLUS Loan Borrowers:
  • Your parent must login to .
    • Select "Loans and Grants" tab at the top of the screen and click on "Master Promissory Note (MPN)."
    • Click on the "Start" button next to the "I'm a Parent of an Undergraduate Student" section. 
    • Once completed, allow 1-2 business days for your counseling to be received at Wichita State.
