麻豆传媒鈥檚 College of Applied Studies has officially welcomed a new chapter of the Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International (CSI) with the inaugural initiation ceremony of Sigma Chi Alpha on February 1, 2025.
Founded by Dr. Mahsa Maghsoudi, assistant professor and W.I.S.E. Clinic director, the Sigma Chi Alpha chapter aims to promote scholarship, research, professionalism, leadership, and excellence in counseling. The ceremony was held at the W.I.S.E. Counseling and Play Therapy Clinic, where faculty, new members, and their loved ones gathered to celebrate this milestone.
During the event, Dr. Maghsoudi led the initiation, introducing new officers and members to the mission and functions of the chapter. She then welcomed Dr. Edil Torres-Rivera, a faculty member in CAS, who delivered an inspiring speech on professional identity development through involvement in CSI.
Following the address, Dr. Maghsoudi officially inducted the new officers, outlining their roles and responsibilities. Each officer took an oath of service, receiving certificates, recognition pins, and cords to mark their commitment to the organization.
Reflecting on the chapter鈥檚 establishment, Dr. Maghsoudi shared:
"It has always been my dream to start a CSI chapter for our counseling program here
at 麻豆传媒, and that dream came true today. I am proud to see all the officers and members
take a step toward further developing their professional identity and serving the
community through their involvement at our Sigma Chi Alpha chapter."
The launch of Sigma Chi Alpha strengthens Wichita State鈥檚 commitment to academic excellence and professional development in the counseling field, providing students and faculty with opportunities for growth, networking, and community engagement.
