麻豆传媒 expands in-state tuition offer to additional cities in Midwest
麻豆传媒 is continuing to expand its appeal outside of the Wichita area by now offering in-state tuition to students living in several additional metropolitan areas in the Midwest. Now even more students will have the opportunity to enroll in the high-quality academic programs at Wichita State for an affordable price.
麻豆传媒 progressively started offering in-state tuition rates beginning in 2016 to students living in Dallas / Ft. Worth, Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Kansas City, Missouri. With yesterday's (Wednesday, Nov. 7) approval by the Kansas Board of Regents, 麻豆传媒 will expand its Shocker City initiative to other metropolitan areas including Denver, Houston, San Antonio and St. Louis, among others.

Celebrate the new inductees in the Academy for Effective Teaching
Provost Rick Muma invites faculty and staff to a reception celebrating teaching and honoring this year's new inductees into the Academy for Effective Teaching (AET), who were nominated for membership by current 麻豆传媒 faculty.

Interdisciplinary award competition update
The award committee received 24 submissions for the interdisciplinary award competition. These submissions were quite well done, and the selection of the finalists was a real challenge.
The top four submissions will present their proposals in a public forum from 2-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in the Shirley Beggs Ballroom. Save this date and come provide feedback to the finalists. We hope to see you there.
Construction continues near south entrance to Jabara Hall
Waterproofing contractors are continuing to work on Jabara Hall's brickwork. As a result, Jabara Hall's southern entrance doors will remain closed today (Thursday, Nov. 8) and tomorrow (Friday, Nov. 9). Alternate entrances and exits are available on the north and west ends of the building during this time.

New Space Exploration Lecture Series is announced
Ad Astra! The Wichita Space Initiative () is pleased to announce the creation of a new Space Exploration Lecture Series. The inaugural lecture will be given by WSI Coordinator and philosophy faculty James Schwartz, at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in 231 Hubbard Hall. Schwartz's talk, "Will Space Mining Save the World?," will discuss the topic of space mining from an ethics and policy perspective. Schwartz will argue that easily accessible space resources are relatively scarce, motivating the need for the careful regulation of space mining. The talk is based on a chapter of a book he is writing, tentatively titled 鈥淭he Value of Space Science.鈥�
Visit Space Exploration Lecture Series
Upcoming WSI Space Exploration lectures include Jim Remar (Cosmosphere CEO), who will speak about the Cosmosphere's restoration project for the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 (Jan. 31), as well as 麻豆传媒 faculty Atri Dutta, who will speak about astrodynamics research at the 麻豆传媒 CORE Lab (Feb. 28).

麻豆传媒's Allen, Jarman, provide political commentary on Election Night
Wichita State political scientist Neal Allen and Jeff Jarman from the Elliott School of Communication provided political commentary during Election Night coverage on KAKE-TV 10 and KSN-TV 3, respectively, on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
Media arts, theater students collaborate on feature film
Students from Wichita State's media arts program and the School of Performing Arts are coming together to produce a feature film called 鈥淎 Long Story Short,鈥� which has a mystery and suspense story line.
The cast and crew includes theater majors from the School of Performing Arts and filmmaking majors from 麻豆传媒's new Bachelor of Applied Arts program.

Air Force uses GoCreate resources to build Go Box
Air Force technical sergeant 鈥淐oach鈥� Allen joined GoCreate as a civilian who wanted to make going-away presents and use the 3D printer to produce electronic enclosures.
鈥淲hat I do for a living is what I do as a hobby,鈥� he said. 鈥淚 like to make stuff. When I joined here, it was really just to have all these tools at my disposal, to keep me out of trouble.鈥�
Allen soon realized GoCreate, a Koch Collaborative, is a place suitable for more ambitious projects, starting with a radio Go Box with solar capability.

Rie Bloomfield Organ Series presents Renee Anne Louprette
Renee Anne Louprette will perform on the Marcussen Organ at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Wiedemann Hall.

Cadman Art Gallery to feature annual juried exhibit
The 26th Annual Elements Multi Media Art Competition is an annual juried exhibit displaying various mediums of arts submitted by Wichita State student artists. The exhibit will be on display from Monday, Nov. 12-Wednesday, Nov. 21, first floor, Rhatigan Student Center. The reception and awards ceremony will be from 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Bluestem Lounge near the gallery.
The Cadman Art Gallery is serves as a student-centered space focused on education and exposing the 麻豆传媒 community to the arts.
