New procedure in place for addressing violations of academic integrity

Starting this fall, 鶹ý has a new procedure in place for addressing violations of academic integrity. Several factors led to this new process, including the need to make sure students' rights were upheld with systematic notification of their right to appeal, the desire to reduce repeat offenses of the academic code, and the need to simplify the process across all colleges.

Understanding finance at 鶹ý can be a challenge for budget officers and support staff. Lois Tatro will present 鶹ý Finance 101 from 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, in 209 Hubbard Hall. The agenda includes information on GU and RU funding, how to stay on top of departmental finances, processing revenue, expenses, Visa procurement cards and more.

Graduate School Professional Development Series on Thursday, Sept. 13

The Graduate School Professional Development Series presents “Preparing a competitive NSF-GRFP application,” from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, in 202 RSC. Snacks will be served.

The National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF-GRFP) is open to undergraduate seniors and first-year graduate students in a STEM discipline who are (or will be) pursuing a research-based master's or doctoral degree.

Dennis Livesay, dean of the Graduate School, will provide an overview of the program and give tips for submitting a successful application. One of the most prestigious programs to recognize and support outstanding graduate students, NSF-GRFP awardees receive a lucrative annual stipend and education allowance for three years.

In a competitive world, knowing your audience and speaking effectively is key. Learn how to synthesize your research, speak persuasively and explain the significance of your findings to different audiences.

Study Abroad Fair coming Sept. 11

Are you interested in studying abroad? Do you want to learn more about study abroad programs offered by 鶹ý?

Come to our Study Abroad Fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, on the first floor, RSC, to visit more than 20 different informational tables and hear about student experiences. Like our  to follow posts related to the fair.

Each student who attends our fair will receive a small prize and be entered to win one of two prize packages, which will include items such as 鶹ý gear, free tickets to Botanica Wichita Gardens, a gift card to Chipotle Mexican Grill and more. All students who attend also will be entered to win a $500 Study Abroad scholarship.

Canvas Collaborations by Hannah Beam in Cadman Art Gallery – Main Space

Cadman Gallery exhibiit Hannah Sept. 2018

Canvas Collaborations is an art exhibition presented by student artist Hannah Beam. Her work will be on display in the Cadman Art Gallery now to Friday, Sept. 14. This show is all about her collaboration with found canvas. These found artworks serve as the inspiration and the space on which the paintings are made. 

Many of these canvases are being given new life through this process as they were unwanted pieces of artwork. Join the artist for her opening reception at The Cadman beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8.

Are you interested in leadership development of yourself and your students? We are calling for six cluster facilitators at 鶹ý's session of LeaderShape this year. The six-day event will take place from Jan. 6-11, 2019. We will also have a facilitator prep and training day on Sunday, Jan. 6. The LeaderShape Institute is a nationally recognized and renowned leadership program dedicated to developing participants to become leaders with integrity, purpose and a healthy disregard for the impossible.
