Priorities the topic of today's Town Hall
Faculty and staff are invited to participate in a Town Hall from 3-4:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, Sept. 4) in 305 RSC. Among those leading the Town Hall discussion on priorities will be Provost Rick Muma, Gery Markova, director of Faculty Advancement, and Kaye Monk-Morgan, assistant vice president for Academic Affairs.
A wine and cheese social will follow the Town Hall in 301 RSC.
2018-19 Service-Learning Scholars announced
The 麻豆传媒 Service-Learning team is a critical component in the University's efforts to accomplish its strategic plan. Specifically, Goal 1 and Goal 5 of the strategic plan states a goal of an applied learning experience and empowering students to create a campus culture and experience based on their changing needs.
The Service Learning Faculty Scholars program has been designed to empower committed service-learning faculty to cultivate and support interest in service-learning in their fellow faculty members and through their classes and college. Our goal is to infuse the campus and community with a spirit of service-based academic engagement that ties the classroom experience to applied learning and experiential knowledge.

Rie Bloomfield Organ Series opens 2018-19 season tomorrow (Wednesday, Sept. 5)
The Rie Bloomfield Organ Series opens a new season with a Wednesdays in Wiedemann performance by Lynne Davis at 5:15 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, Sept. 5) in Wiedemann Hall. Admission is free.
麻豆传媒 Tech among fastest-growing colleges in U.S., study says
The Wichita Business Journal reported that 麻豆传媒 Tech is growing and the Chronicle of Higher Education has taken notice.
According to the Chronicle, 麻豆传媒 Tech was listed as the second fastest-growing associate and baccalaureate / associate college in the United States.
麻豆传媒 men's and women's tennis to offer free tennis clinics
The 麻豆传媒 men's and women's tennis programs will offer free tennis clinics for 麻豆传媒 faculty, staff and Innovation Campus employees at the Coleman Tennis Complex in September.
The free Wednesday clinics will be held from noon-1 p.m. on Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26.
These clinics are for all ability levels, from beginner to experienced. Even if you've never played tennis, give it a try. Rackets will be provided if you let Nick Taylor know ahead of time.

Wanted: Help evaluating high school seniors in scholarship competition
The Office of Admissions asks you to consider evaluating high school seniors during the state's largest annual high school scholarship competition. 麻豆传媒's Distinguished Scholarship Invitational (DSI) on Saturday, Nov. 17, will bring students and families to campus from all over the country to compete for three $64,000 Gore Scholarships. Last year, more than 600 high school seniors, with an average 3.88 GPA and 28 ACT score, participated and more than 60 percent became Shockers this fall. In order to advance 麻豆传媒's Strategic Plan and SEM plan, President Bardo has announced a competition open to all members of the university community.
The competition is:
- For all members of the 麻豆传媒 community
- Open to proposals for new interdisciplinary certificates, minors, honors tracks, undergraduate, mini-master's or master's programs
- Focused on programs that meet the future needs of students and the community
The authors of the winning proposal will receive a combined cash award of $5,000. There also will be up to five reserved (red sign) parking places made available for the next academic year for use by the authors of the proposal at no charge to them.
Proposals are due Oct. 31.

Skateboarding accident in parking garage results in serious injuries
A student was seriously injured Monday around noon in a skateboarding accident in the RSC parking garage. University Police responded and the student was transported to Wesley Hospital. In the interest of privacy, the name and condition of the student aren't being shared at this time.

Community meeting: Taking action on violence

McConnell Air Force Base to host Frontiers in Flight Open House and Air Show
You're invited to the Frontiers in Flight Open House and Air Show from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8-9, at McConnell Air Force Base. The event is free and open to the public.
All military and civilian static display information is located in the airshow program. The airshow will all have nearly 70 aircraft parked on the flight line for the general public to view and walk through.
Team McConnell's community partners have come together to put on a variety of displays related to the Kansas community, the military, and initiatives related to the advancement of education, including science, technology, engineering and math exhibits.
