Clash of the Colleges is here!
It's on! In-person & Virtual Clash of the Colleges begins today (Friday, Aug. 21). This event will include relay races, team sports, and a competition between academic colleges to determine who rules the school.
All students that signed up to participate in person should receive an email confirmation to your Shocker Student account. Check your email prior to arriving for today's event. Please remember to wear face coverings to the event. Participants who received a spot will arrive at the north gate of Cessna Stadium at the time posted in their email. Enjoy an afternoon of interactive socially distanced fun!

Sign up for Rocket League Tournament for Virtual Clash of the Colleges!
Interested in getting points for your college for Clash of the Colleges? We will host multiple virtual games! Our virtual games will start today (Friday, Aug. 21) and end on Monday, Sept. 14.
One of the virtual games we will host is a Rocket League competition. Registration for e-gaming is open now! You can compete on PC, Xbox, or PS4. There will be tournaments for each level you reach. Points will be given based on the levels you reach.
The final four and championship match will be live streamed on 麻豆传媒-TV, and also at Fuzzy's! A live bracket of the tournament will be displayed in the Heskett Center.
Registration is open now, and the deadline to register is 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21.

SPSS now available for remote work by faculty and students
ITS offers alternative access options for IBM SPSS/AMOS statistical software for faculty, staff and students.
Option 1 On-Premise and Remote Access: ITS has installed SPSS/AMOS in designated labs and on 麻豆传媒-owned desktop / laptops computers of faculty and staff who have requested on-premise access. This option allows you to have access to SPSS/AMOS software on your 麻豆传媒-owned computer with access to your files and network shares.
If you remote to your 麻豆传媒 computer via the authorized virtual private network (VPN) when away from campus, you will still have access to the installed SPSS/AMOS software on your 麻豆传媒 computer and access to your data files, including network shares.
If you would like to have SPSS/AMOS installed on your 麻豆传媒 computer, please submit the ticket by clicking on .
Option 2 Off-Premise Access: For faculty, staff and students who cannot be on campus or remote to their 麻豆传媒 owned-computer from off campus, or while away from their 麻豆传媒 computer or lab, ITS offers an authorized access version of SPSS/AMOS. This option allows you to install SPSS/AMOS on your home computer, but may limit you from accessing data files stored on your 麻豆传媒 computer or network shares (see Installing SPSS on Personal Devices below). The license for Option 2 expires each year on June 30; if you wish to continue using SPSS/AMOS while employed or as an active student at 麻豆传媒 beyond the June 30 expiration, you will need to obtain a new license.
The following instructions are on how to obtain the SPSS/AMOS license and download the software for Option 2:
- Log in to the my麻豆传媒 Portal ().
- For the student: SPSS is located under the Home Tab: Student tools/software.
- For the faculty/staff: SPSS is located under Faculty/Staff tab: Quick Links / Software
Installing SPSS on Personal Devices:
Personal-owned devices lack the same administrative and technical protections as machines issued by 麻豆传媒. Personal-owned devices should not be used for confidential information or datasets that 麻豆传媒 is under contractual obligation to protect. In the event where there is concern over the security of the data, 麻豆传媒 and current research face damages to the loss and additional outside oversight.

Perspectives on the Pandemic series returns with more experts and viewpoints
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, faculty experts in the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at 麻豆传媒 are studying the way populations have reacted and adapted.
Presentations in the Perspectives on the Pandemic: Part II series feature a political scientist, sociologist, criminologist, health disparities panel, and performing arts panel. Each event will be delivered via Zoom and hosted by Andrew Hippisley, dean and professor of linguistics.

First-Generation Student Organization meeting
A First-Generation Student Organization meeting will be held from 1-2 p.m. today (Friday, Aug. 21), in 261 Rhatigan Student Center.
The First-Generation Student Organization (FGSO) seeks to raise awareness within Wichita State University鈥檚 student and professional community through activities and programs designed to foster the education of first-generation students.

The Sport Program's intramural activities this semester will include in-person single and double activities (tennis, disc golf, golf, etc.), recreational Esports, virtual activities (fishing derby, accumulative marathon, etc.), and traditional sports (flag football, futsal and volleyball), all designed in a safe manner.

The Ulrich Museum of Art is excited to host a free virtual talk with conceptual artist Hank Willis Thomas in conversation with artist/scholar Dr. Deborah Willis.

Thomas is an American conceptual artist working primarily with themes related to perspective, identity, media, and popular culture. He is one of the artists currently featured in the Museum's Ulrich + Artists + You Community Billboard Project (his billboard is located at 308 N. West St.). He is also the co-founder of For Freedoms, a platform for creative civic engagement, discourse, and direct action.
As an artist, author and curator, Dr. Deborah Willis' art and pioneering research has focused on cultural histories envisioning the black body, women and gender. She is a celebrated photographer, acclaimed historian of photography, MacArthur and Guggenheim Fellow, and University Professor and Chair of the Department of Photography & Imaging at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

Startup Shiver Solutions is looking for an electrical engineering student. Come join the team!
Shiver Solutions is a startup in early stages developing a device to remove ice from windshields and other applications. The idea of Shiver was first conceptualized for 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Invent for the Planet (IFTP) competition. The Shiver team came up with the idea through problem-solving exercises in the IFTP competition. The team then took their idea further by exploring competitions and funding opportunities, such as the Shocker New Venture Competition, E-Launch, Shocker I-Corps Program and the most recent E-Teams summer program from VentureWell.
The team of two graduate students in mechanical engineering, which are the co-founders of Shiver Solutions, is now looking for someone with an electrical engineering background. They are looking for current students from the EE department that have at least 10 hours per week to dedicate to the development of a novel technology in the piezoelectric field. They look for someone proactive, who would be willing to study and develop with them the technology.

The Shocker Sports Grill & Lanes is once again open on Saturdays! Operating hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m.

Note: They are working hard to keep guests healthy and safe with added measure to sanitize equipment after every use and space out guests on the lanes.

Stop by Fuzzy's from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, for a free taco on the 麻豆传媒 Alumni Association. Students that come by and show their Shocker ID will receive a coupon for one free taco of their choice, valid only on Aug. 25.
Keep our sidewalks safe!
Please be considerate of sharing the sidewalks with those who choose to ride skateboards and electric skateboards. The 麻豆传媒 Police Department encourages safety for all on campus and are already receiving complaints about skateboards both on the roadways and the sidewalks.
Please familiarize yourself with the university parking regulations safety policy that applies to skateboards.

10.0 Skateboards, longboards, scooters and coasters are authorized for transportation purposes only on the University campus (see Article 2.1) except in residential areas defined by Housing and Residence Life, and for special events approved by the University President.
10.1 The use of skateboards, longboards, coasters, and roller skates on campus is limited to paved right-of-ways and sidewalks.
10.2 Skateboards, longboards, coasters, roller skates, scooters, or other skating devices shall not be ridden inside any University building, parking garage and/or shall not be used for stunts on any steps, retaining or landscape walls, benches, or handrails on the University campus.
