Wu's Big Event IX (Saturday, Oct. 6)
Join Community Service Board in a day of service at Wu's Big Event IX on Saturday, Oct. 6. Wu's Big Event is a bi-annual service event geared toward students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the university passionate about volunteering.
Volunteers will begin the day with a kick-off breakfast and keynote speaker. After opening events, volunteers will be bussed to one of seven service sites and perform three hours of community service with fellow Shockers. Upon return, volunteers will take part in reflection activities and receive a boxed lunch.

School of Performing Arts / Theatre to perform 鈥楾he Search'
The 麻豆传媒 School of Performing Arts / Theatre will perform 鈥淭he Search鈥� at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, to Saturday, Sept. 29, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 29-30, in Welsbacher Theatre, Hughes Metropolitan Complex, 29th and Oliver, Entrance F.

鈥淭he Search,鈥� by Elizabeth Crino, is a story of three roommates -- Ted, Sarah and Beth who one day realize that their fourth roommate, Ned, has gone missing. However, they come to find that none of them even liked Ned to begin with and feel it would be best to just forget about him. As the story progresses, the three roommates dodge any sort of evidence of his whereabouts and choose to be blissfully ignorant about the situation so they can live a 鈥淣ed-less鈥� life.
Crino is the winner of the 麻豆传媒 Theatre National Playwriting Competition. Elizabeth's other plays include 鈥淧en and Paper and the Presentation.鈥�
鈥淭he Search鈥� is part of the theatre program's student produced Second Stage series. In this series, students are responsible for all aspects of the production including show choice, design work, technical direction, construction, direction, acting and promotion. Through this applied learning experience, students pursuing careers in the fields of art and entertainment have the opportunity to learn hands on how to take a show from conception to completion.

American releases 2018-19 hoops schedule, TV info
Wichita State's regular season schedule for men's basketball is complete. The American
Athletic Conference finalized dates, times and television assignments on Wednesday
afternoon.
For the second straight year, the Shockers will play all 18 conference games on linear
national television, highlighted by CBS' return to Wichita for the Jan. 19 rematch
with Cincinnati.
The Mar. 4, 2018 game between 麻豆传媒 and Cincinnati marked CBS' first-ever network telecast
from the Roundhouse and was the highest-rated regular season broadcast in American
conference history.
In addition to its fourth CBS appearance since joining The American, 麻豆传媒 will play
eight times on CBS Sports Network during league play and 11 times overall. Seven more
Shocker conference games (and as many as 15 total) will air on the ESPN family of
networks, which includes ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNews and ESPN3.
American finalizes 2019 women's conference schedule, TV info
Wichita State and the American Athletic Conference recently released the 2019 conference schedule along with TV information.
Wichita State will face UCF, UConn and Houston at home only; Cincinnati, USF and Tulane on the road only; and ECU, Memphis, SMU, Temple and Tulsa in home-and-home action.
In all, Wichita State will play in front of a national or regional audience 23 times in 2019. The Shockers are scheduled to play on COX YurView (HD 2022) 15 times, while also appearing on the ESPN family of networks four times. Wichita State's matchup with Houston on Jan. 20 and road trip at Cincinnati on Feb. 10 are slated to tip on ESPNU.

Culturally Responsive Teaching opportunity
Culture is central to learning. Culturally Responsive Teaching will be presented from noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, in 142 Rhatigan Student Center.
Culture plays a role not only in communicating and receiving information, but also in shaping the thinking process of groups and individuals. A pedagogy that acknowledges, responds to and celebrates fundamental cultures offers full, equitable access to education for students from all cultures. Culturally Responsive Teaching is a pedagogy that recognizes the importance of including students' cultural references in all aspects of learning.
This event will be part of a series of events with a pedagogical focus that students are eligible to take throughout the year to earn an alternative credential (noncredit badge).

Physical Therapy students seek volunteers for neck pain study
Do you have neck pain? See if you qualify for a free neck massage! We are conducting a research study to determine the effects of traditional massage vs traditional massage augmented by paraffin heat pack on neck pain. As part of this study, we will collect data about cervical strength, pain, range of motion and disability score based on the Neck Disability Index scale.
The study will take place at the 麻豆传媒 Old Town Center and participation will require about one hour of your time. We will then need you to return two to three days later to take final measurements, which will take approximately 20 minutes. Jeremy David Tarrant to present Guest Artist Recital
Canon precentor and organist-choirmaster of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Detroit, Jeremy David Tarrant directs an internationally recognized comprehensive music program. He will present a guest artist recital at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 25) in Wiedemann Hall.
Tarrant is the founding director of the Cathedral Choir School of Metropolitan Detroit. His recent recording on the organ in the First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood in St. Louis of Widor's epic Seventh Symphony has received enthusiastic and critical acclaim in the United States and abroad.

Information session coming on South America travel seminar
A special information session to learn more about the South America (Paraguay) travel
seminar will be from 3-4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, in 142 RSC. Ann Burger will lead the
session and provide information about the travel seminar and answer any questions. This
will be the second year for 麻豆传媒 to participate in this program. We have scholarships,
up to $2,000 each, available for students. The deadline is Monday, Oct. 15.
