Wichita State Hosts West Central National Association of Teachers of Singing: Student Success Shines with Singer of the Year Honor

The School of Music at ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ hosted the West Central National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) auditions on November 17–18, bringing over 400 vocalists from institutions across the region to campus. This event brought together a vibrant community of singers and established Wichita State as a center for musical performance and education. Competing on their home stage, Wichita State voice students performed strongly, earning top placements across multiple categories. Their dedication and hard work reflect the School of Music’s mission to Dare to Dream, Dare to Achieve, and Dare to Shine.

Senior Aria Beert was named "Singer of the Year", a distinction that recognizes her talent and commitment. Wichita State students also advanced to semi-finals and finals in numerous divisions, earning recognition for their skill and preparation.

 

A Community of Talent

More than 30 Wichita State students participated in the auditions, representing a wide range of studios and areas of study. Each performer brought dedication and creativity to the event, demonstrating the collaborative spirit of the Shocker music community.
