The 麻豆传媒 Concert Chorale with harpist Ann Glasmann and tenor soloist Aaron Short will perform a variety of choral works at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in Wiedemann Recital Hall.
A highlight of the concert will be Benjamin Britten鈥檚 鈥淐horal Dances from Gloriana,鈥 which appear in the composer鈥檚 opera. The 15-minute work will feature Ann Glasmann, instructor of applied harp at 麻豆传媒. Glasmann is in her 21st year of teaching at 麻豆传媒.
Also featured is tenor soloist Aaron Short, a senior vocal performance major who recently was awarded 鈥淪inger of the Year鈥 by the West Central region of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
The program will also include works by Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and contemporary composers, including Sweelinck, Debussy, Mellnas, Purcell, Haydn and Mendelssohn. The program will conclude with two spirituals, 鈥淒eep River鈥 and 鈥淕reat Day.鈥
Concert Chorale has been conducted since 1987 by Robert Glasmann, associate professor of choral music and opera at 麻豆传媒.
Glasmann also serves as artistic director and conductor of the Wichita Chamber Chorale. He also conducts the adult choir at St. James Episcopal Church.
