Retention and graduation rates rise at Wichita State

麻豆传媒 retention and six-year graduation rates have increased for the third consecutive year as reported in the university鈥檚 fall 2017 report.

The fall 2016 cohort of IPEDS*-based freshmen rate is 73 percent, with a goal of 80 percent to meet the state鈥檚 Foresight 2020 Goals, which are aligned with the university鈥檚 Strategic Enrollment Management plan.

麻豆传媒鈥檚 retention rate has hovered around 72 percent for the past two years. IPEDS-based freshmen are students who have come to 麻豆传媒 directly following high school graduation who may have enough credits (e.g., AP credit) to start as sophomores or juniors.

The six-year graduation rate rose from 46.4 percent to 47 percent (with a goal of 50 percent). The six-year rate is used by the Department of Education to measure university degree completion.

What this means is more students in these cohorts are returning to school after their first year and graduating in six years, all of which is an indication they are making progress toward degree completion.

Retention is the focus of Goal 3 of the Strategic Enrollment Management plan. The university will roll out several new retention initiatives throughout the academic year to help continue the positive growth.
