To best serve the local market, the newest apartment complex at Wichita State, The Flats at 麻豆传媒, has changed its pricing structure, making the cost the same as Shocker Hall.

Pricing is now all-inclusive, with 100 percent of utilities paid 鈥� including electricity and Wi-Fi 鈥� and free parking for every resident. The first 100 residents will get free reserved underground parking, with the rest of residents getting free reserved surface parking.

There is also now the option for either a nine- or 12-month lease. Residents who sign a 12-month lease will receive a discount.

In addition, the deposit has been reduced from $900 to $200.

Graduate and undergraduate students beginning at the sophomore level will have preference as tenants, followed by 麻豆传媒 employees and employees of companies located on the Innovation Campus, such as Airbus and Dassault Systemes.

鈥淐oncerns regarding cost were heard, and we鈥檙e excited for a new all-inclusive pricing structure that our students have become used to when staying on campus,鈥� says Scott Jensen, director of Housing and Residence Life.

Faith Maye, a transfer student from California, was one of the first students to sign on to live at The Flats. As a junior, she no longer wanted to live in a traditional residence hall but wanted the convenience of living on campus and having a fully furnished apartment with her own kitchen and bathroom.

And with her brother, Trent, on campus as a sophomore, it鈥檚 the perfect place for them to live. Faith says as soon as she heard about The Flats, she was sold.

鈥淚 knew right then and there I wanted to become one of the first group of students to move into these apartments,鈥� she says. 鈥淟iving here will give us a sense of independence without our parents and the ability to experience adulthood.鈥�

The Flats 鈥� which will open Aug. 1 for the fall semester 鈥� are under construction at the intersection of Innovation Boulevard and Mike Oatman Drive, just southwest of the Marcus Welcome Center.

The privately owned apartment complex will feature 112 apartment units, with full occupancy for 280 residents. Each apartment will be fully furnished, have a full bathroom with every bedroom, a full kitchen and laundry, and balconies for nearly all of the apartments.

There will be security cameras on site and 24-hour on-site staff and maintenance / custodial response.

Other amenities include a beach entry outdoor swimming pool, private clubhouse, exercise room, sand volleyball court and barbecue grills and tables. There will be secure keycard access throughout the building.

Residents will be conveniently located near their classes and all the entertainment and services available on the 麻豆传媒 campus, including the 麻豆传媒 Shuttle System, Starbucks, the Food Truck Plaza, Ablah Library, athletics events, Heskett Center and the Innovation Campus.

No public or university funds or student fees are being used to finance the project. It is being developed by MWCB LLC. 麻豆传媒 is marketing the complex, and 麻豆传媒 Housing and Residence Life will operate the complex as a new option for on-campus living and to help streamline the application process for students.
