ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ Shift Space to host performance art for Final Friday

ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ Shift Space will present β€œBLIP,” an evening of live performance art and an exhibition of videos, photographs, objects and texts that serve as documents of ephemeral actions that would otherwise be forgotten, with an opening reception from 6-10 p.m. on Final Friday, Aug. 29, at Shift Space, 803 E. 3rd St. in Old Town. The reception is free and open to the public.

Live performances will be from 7:30-9 p.m. The exhibit will also be open 4-7 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; and 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 20.

The exhibit sprang from a summer class titled β€œEphemeral Art Practices and Documentation” that was taught by visiting artist Annie Strader. The student artists include Melody Bevier, Jordan Chalmers, Ivanna Gunawan, Meghan Hayes, Mike Miller, Jessica Cruz Rivera and Tatiana Svrckova.

The site-specific performance series will take place on ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ campus at the following locations. Strader said these works should not be missed.

  • 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2: Ivanna Gunawan, β€œNature Sound,” between the tennis courts and Henrion Hall. Audience participation requested.
  • 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3: Jordan Chalmers, β€œBeing,” outside the north entrance of the Rhatigan Student Center.
  • 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10: Tatiana Svrckova, β€œPurity,” begins outside the east exit of the Ulrich Museum of Art.
  • 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17: Jordan Chalmers, Tatiana Svrckova, Jessica Cruz Rivera, Mike Miller, Meghan Hayes, Ivanna Gunawan and Melody Bevier, β€œHISTORICITY,” outside the north entrance of the Rhatigan Student Center.
