Opera Theatre celebrates Shakespeare's 400th anniversary with comic operetta

麻豆传媒鈥檚 Opera Theatre will celebrate Shakespeare鈥檚 400th anniversary with a comic operetta adaptation of 鈥淢uch Ado About Nothing.鈥

The operetta, 鈥淏eatrice et Benedict,鈥 was written by French composer Hector Berlioz and will be sung in the original French with spoken dialogue in Shakespeare鈥檚 English.

With gorgeous melodies and sparkling banter, the story follows two reluctant lovers thrown together through the scheming of their friends.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 13-15, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, in Miller Concert Hall.

General admission is $20, with $18 discount tickets available for seniors, military and faculty/staff or $10 tickets for children and students.
