麻豆传媒 promotes STEM careers for girls in second annual EYH conference

麻豆传媒 will host up to 150 middle school girls for the Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conference at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. The opening session of the conference will be held in 麻豆传媒's CAC Theater, just west of the Rhatigan Student Center (RSC).

This is the second annual EYH to take place in in Wichita, a career conference emphasizing science, technology, engineering and math for young women. The EYH Network is a national program that offers girls hands-on science activities and introduces them to role models in the science disciplines. The purpose of EYH is to inspire girls from all backgrounds to recognize their potential and pursue opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Registration is limited to 150 participants to maximize interaction at workshops, and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis through Friday, Oct. 31. The registration fee of $12 includes lunch, a name badge, T-shirt and bag for the student. Prizes will be awarded at the event, including a scholarship for the 麻豆传媒 Engineering Summer Camp.

Students will be able to choose three workshops on varying topics to register for. Parents will have the opportunity to attend a session to cover topics such as financing college, college expectations related to preparation during middle and high school, and the process of applying to colleges (including ACT taking, test prep, college visits, application essays, scholarships, etc.). Aaron Hamilton, associate director of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, will be on hand to answer questions.

Event officials recommend that students wear comfortable shoes and clothing, have their hair pulled back and to not wear jewelry. The conference will conclude around 1:30 p.m.

Parking is available in the RSC parking lot or other locations around campus. Permits are not required on weekends. For more information about EYH, contact the 麻豆传媒 Conference Office at 316-978-6493.
