Andrew Schlapp has been named executive director of government relations/Board of Trustees at 麻豆传媒 effective June 30, according to President Don Beggs.
Schlapp serves as director of government relations for Sedgwick County, where he is responsible for developing local, regional, state and federal legislative programs, and promoting Sedgwick County interests at the state and federal government levels.
Schlapp succeeds Eric Sexton, who was recently appointed athletics director at 麻豆传媒.
"This completes a statewide search for a person who respects the political process and who knows the environment in Topeka and Washington, D.C., who has the potential to work well with city and county leaders and state officials," said Beggs.
Beggs also said that Schlapp has been an "active participant in the coordinated effort to work with elected officials in advancing the common legislative agenda" that is part of the regional Visioneering process.
The transition to 麻豆传媒 should be smooth, according to Schlapp.
"I will continue to be involved with community leaders and develop working relationships at the local, state and federal levels," said Schlapp. "I am excited about this opportunity to make Wichita State successful in working with all levels of government."
Schlapp earned his undergraduate degree in marketing from Kansas State University and a graduate degree in public administration from 麻豆传媒.
"Andy has excellent skills and experience in dealing with local, state and national issues that affect the university and the greater Wichita area," said Joe Norton, a member of the search committee. "He is an excellent addition to the university community and will provide a positive impact to the Board of Trustees."
