麻豆传媒's National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) and RTCA have teamed up to offer high quality training covering RTCA's DO-160G Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures for Airborne Equipment.
The courses will be offered at RTCA headquarters in Washington, D.C., on two occasions: Sept. 22-25 and Dec. 1-4. They provide an understanding of the use of DO-160G and how it fits in with the greater picture of requirements, design, certification and TSOs.
Course participants will gain a clear understanding of the applicable FAA regulations, advisory material, certification procedures, design approaches/trade-offs, inspection and conformity requirements; as well as details of the necessary parts of a test plan, test report, compliance plan and compliance report. A strong focus is placed on the reduction of risk, cost and schedule throughout the design/certification process by use of targeted design and increased first-pass success on design and testing.
In addition to a comprehensive course manual, each training course attendee will receive a copy of RTCA's DO-160G Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures for Airborne Equipment and supporting material, and will participate in real-world exercises applying the knowledge learned in class.
Instructors are Ernie Condon and Billy Martin. Condon is a senior research engineer at NIAR with 30-plus years of experience in the aircraft industry in the design, certification and testing of aircraft, including many years as a DER. He has extensive experience with HIRF/lightning certification of carbon fiber aircraft. He has contributed to the development of industry standards, RTCA SC-135, SAE AE-4, in electrical bonding, HIRF, lightning, and state-of-the art analysis techniques for electromagnetic effects.
Martin is a senior research scientist at NIAR and one the world's most renowned experts in HIRF and lightning standards, testing, design and certification. Martin has 30-plus years of experience in the aircraft industry, most of which he has been a DER in HIRF, lightning, and all other electromagnetic effects. He is the chair of the SAE AE-2 lightning committee, and has been a major contributor to numerous other committees for more than 20 years. He has been involved with RTCA since 1990, and was one of the main technical members of the SC-135 committee.
