Wichita State Summer Choir performance has a little faith

The 麻豆传媒 Summer Choir presents 鈥淗ave a Little Faith鈥 at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26, in Miller Concert Hall, Duerksen Fine Arts Center.

The musical theme this year is about looking for faith in country, relationships and God. The Summer Choir will be joined by special guest SmorgasChorus, an award-winning barbershop chorus that offers traditional tunes and modern arrangements of songs by the Beach Boys.

The summer concert, directed by 麻豆传媒 music professor Tom Wine, will include familiar melodies such as 鈥淎merica the Beautiful,鈥 鈥淕reat is Thy Faithfulness鈥 and 鈥淔or the Beauty of the Earth,鈥 as well as a melody by Gustav Holst. The performances will be interspersed with music based on the poetry of e.e. cummings, a composition by 麻豆传媒 faculty member Dean Roush and a rousing Gospel selection.

This year鈥檚 choir boasts more than 100 singers from local high schools, representatives from 12 Wichita State departments, area teachers and a community of people who love to sing. It is an open choir with no auditions, and encourages anyone who wants to sing to add their voice 鈥 the concert is a culmination of an intense rehearsal process.
