This fall, 29 new students will attend 麻豆传媒 with scholarships from The Kansas Hispanic Education and Development Foundation (KHEDF). The nonprofit KHEDF awarded 53 scholarships to Hispanic students graduating from high schools in the Wichita metro area this year, distributing $70,000 in award money. The scholarships are worth between $1,000-$4,896 each for the 2014-15 academic year.
Ten of the students attending Wichita State in the fall also received the 麻豆传媒 Admissions Institutional award. The other future Shockers received scholarships sponsored or cosponsored by local companies or individuals.
Wichita State partnered with the KHEDF last year for the 鈥淭u Futuro: Through Education and Leadership Workshop,鈥 which hosted more than 100 high school juniors for a day of workshops, meeting with college representatives and scholarship opportunities.
The KHEDF was formed in 2007 by the Wichita Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to provide a platform for donors to make a tax-deductible contribution for scholarships and education initiatives. The organization鈥檚 goal is to provide local Hispanic students with the financial and educational resources to achieve college educations and help Kansas stay competitive.
