The Political Science Department at 麻豆传媒 will host Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in the CAC Theater. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Praeger will present on the changing health care system in Kansas and across the country, based on the Obama administration鈥檚 new policies.
In 2002, Praeger was elected as the state鈥檚 insurance commissioner and was re-elected in both 2006 and 2010. She is responsible for regulating all insurance sold in Kansas and oversees nearly 1,700 insurance companies and more than 100,000 state-licensed agents.
Because of campus construction, parking is not available next to the theater or Rhatigan Student Center. Attendees should plan to park south of the CAC Theater near the 17th Street entrance, or west near the Performing Arts Center.
Prager鈥檚 presentation is part of 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Ruth Luzzati Guest Lecture Program in Political Science. Luzzati was a longtime community leader in Wichita as a volunteer and in public policy positions. From 1973 to 1987, she served in the Kansas House of Representatives. Luzzati鈥檚 daughter established the lecture series in 2009.
