Thirty-three 麻豆传媒 students and faculty members from the School of Performing Arts participated in the Region 5 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Lincoln, Neb. Jan. 20-26. Wichita State brought home numerous awards.
More than 1,500 university students and faculty from the six-state region attended workshops, competed in acting and design competitions, attended theatre productions and auditioned for summer stock.
- Technical theatre and design senior Amanda Keeton was awarded First Place in the National Competition in Costume Design for 鈥淩osencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead鈥 and will represent 麻豆传媒 at the National Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Washington, D.C. in April.
Maddie Nevins won Second Place in the region for her set design for 鈥淩osencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead."
Brady Flock was honored by the Society of Properties Artisan Managers for his outstanding display of a property designed for 鈥淔leeing Blue.鈥
- Three 麻豆传媒 students and their partners were selected for the Semi-Final Round in the Irene Ryan Acting Competition:
- Damian Padilla and his partner Michael Allen
- Melissa Hudson and her partner Robert Thomas
- Aaron Cravan and his partner Emily Monrad
- Certificates of Merit were bestowed on Maddie Nevins for lighting design for 鈥淓dges鈥; Andy Rouse for sound design for 鈥淓dges鈥; and Stephanie Steinkoenig for costume design for 鈥淪ausage!鈥
- Faculty members Bret Jones, Amy Baker Schwiethale, Rebecca Maholland and Linda Starkey presented workshops.
- Megan Gill and Bailey Burcham were cast in the Faculty Directing Showcase, and Luke Walker was selected for the Musical Theatre Intensive.
