Kiah Danielle Duggins, an International Baccalaureate senior at Wichita High School East, is the winner of 麻豆传媒鈥檚 2013-2014 Clay Barton Scholarship in Business.
Duggins will receive $11,000 a year for four years to attend 麻豆传媒. The $44,000 Barton Scholarship is the biggest business scholarship in the state.
Duggins, who plans to major in international business and Spanish, and minor in political science at 麻豆传媒, is the daughter of Gwendolyn and Maurice Duggins.
She was raised in Wichita and has danced at the Wichita School of Performing Arts since she was 2. She takes ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, lyrical and hip-hop classes, and at East is a member of the dance team.
She also is a member of East鈥檚 Spanish club, Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society and Global Awareness and Peace Promoters.
Duggins is the school鈥檚 student body vice president.
Describing herself as a pragmatic idealist, Duggins said she is passionate about advocacy for disadvantaged and/or mistreated people.
She鈥檚 interested in global economic development and said she鈥檇 love to work for a nonprofit that helps foster economic growth in developing countries, or be a foreign service officer for the U.S. Agency for International Development or the State Department.
