A good year for music with rousing events, Russia, Ramey

Music faculty and students have an exciting year ahead of performances in band, jazz, orchestra, opera, choir and music theatre, a trip to Russia, and an opportunity to work with bass-baritone Sam Ramey, Guest Artist Fellow in Opera at 麻豆传媒.

The School of Music at 麻豆传媒 has a great year of musical performances planned for the College of Fine Arts 2012-2013 season.

The school has begun the year with good news:

  • an autumn trip to Russia with the St. Petersburg Quartet and their students鈥 Suprima Chamber Orchestra, the Lieurance Woodwind Quintet, and select faculty and students;
  • the addition of world-renowned opera star Sam Ramey, thanks to a privately funded Guest Artist Fellowship in Opera that starts his first year with six weeks of residency full of master classes and intensive one-on-one training;
  • and the addition of several new faculty members in key positions.

It鈥檚 also the 50th anniversary of the school鈥檚 popular Candlelight Christmas Concert, which shows off the 麻豆传媒 choirs.
As always, Wichita State鈥檚 music students are the beneficiaries of all good news, opportunities and resources at the school.

They experience a seasoned faculty, year-round performance opportunities in band, jazz, orchestra, opera, choir and music theatre, and access to the state鈥檚 largest ready-made audience in the greater Wichita metropolitan area.

Plan now for these fall performances; the spring 2013 schedule will be announced on the 麻豆传媒 news website in December.
