麻豆传媒鈥檚 public radio station KMUW 89.1 FM has completed its spring 2011 pledge drive two days early, exceeding its goal of $250,000 by more than $14,000 in record time.
Other success during the campaign included the highest one-day total in the station鈥檚 history 鈥 $44,127 鈥 and a record number of new members, totaling more than 300.
There were 1,880 listeners who contributed to the campaign.
Campus support
Many 麻豆传媒 employees pledged using a payroll deduction, and the university鈥檚 Media Resources Center loaned laptops to KMUW for the drive.
Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Research Keith Pickus used a corporate challenge to urge listeners to pledge. 麻豆传媒 President and first lady Don and Shirley Beggs contributed to KMUW while appearing on air. And communications professor Les Anderson touted the value of public radio for the benefit of the pledge drive.
KMUW is a 24/7 news and entertainment station and is located across the street from the main 麻豆传媒 campus.
