The Lake Afton Public Observatory, in conjunction with the Kansas Astronomical Observers (KAO), will host a telescope fair from 7:30-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at the observatory.
Members of the KAO will have their telescopes set up and be available to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of telescopes. If you are considering buying a telescope as a holiday gift, or you鈥檙e not quite sure how to get the most out of the telescope you have, don鈥檛 miss this opportunity to talk to the experts and see a number of telescopes in the same place at the same time.
While the telescope fair is going on that evening, the observatory will present its regularly scheduled program, 鈥淭he Moon and Gas Giants鈥 program from 7:30-10 p.m.
Visitors will have an opportunity to observe the moon, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune as LAPO staff discuss the differences between the moon and these gas giant planets. They will also talk about the similarities and differences between the Earth鈥檚 moon and the moons of the gas giants.
