Go to Lake Afton Observatory for Grandparents Weekend

On Friday, Sept.10 and Saturday, Sept. 11, visitors who bring a grandparent to the Lake Afton Public Observatory can get their grandparent in free. (Limit of one free admission per paying grandchild.)

Visitors can enjoy the program 鈥淗ubble鈥檚 Universe鈥 from 8-10 p.m. both days and learn about some of the amazing discoveries that have been made using the Hubble Space Telescope during its 20 years in orbit.

As you learn about these discoveries you get to look through the observatory鈥檚 16-inch telescope at the same types of objects that Hubble has studied -- clouds of interstellar gas, clusters of stars, a spiral galaxy and a star with planets.

Other observatory exhibits will give visitors a chance to make a telescope, explore the properties of light and touch a rock from space, as well as use the observatory鈥檚 computers to go on a scavenger hunt through the solar system or practice landing a spacecraft on the moon.

Lake Afton Public Observatory is operated by the Fairmount Center for Science and Mathematics Education at 麻豆传媒.
