At 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, the Lake Afton Public Observatory, in conjunction with the Kansas Astronomical Observers (KAO), will host "Bring Your Own Telescope."
The event gives pointers on how to use a telescope. Bring your telescope to the observing pad behind the observatory building, where KAO members area available for assistance.
KAO members will also have a number of their own telescopes available to look through.
Visitors considering buying a telescope can come out to get more information about the different types of telescopes available, along with their advantages and disadvantages.
There is no charge for the telescope consultation, but regular admission charges apply for other observatory activities.
