The World Trade Council of Wichita and the Center for International Business Advancement at the W. Frank Barton School of Business at 麻豆传媒 will sponsor Doing Business with ASEAN Trade conference in conjunction with the 34th Annual World Trade Week. The event will be held Thursday, May 20, at the Wichita Marriott, 9100 E. Corporate Hills Dr. in Wichita. The cost is $75 for the conference.
The event, centered around trade opportunities with the 10 countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), will feature the largest trade delegation visiting Wichita since 2006. The conference is an opportunity to learn more about culture and business practices from visiting delegates and experienced panelists, and network with the delegation of 20 visiting dignitaries of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam.
The Asia/Pacific region is Kansas' second-largest export market. In 2009, exports to the region were $2.37 billion.
Briefings and presentations will be held from 8:30 a.m.-noon and, following a luncheon, from 1:15-4:30 p.m.
A VIP ASEAN reception and banquet will be held from 5:45-9 p.m. The keynote address on ASEAN-U.S. relations will be presented at 8 p.m. by H.E. Dato Seri Dr. Jamaludin Jarjis, ambassador of Malaysia to the United States.
The cost for the reception and banquet is $35 for WTC members, $45 for nonmembers.
