In early November, Wichita's City Council is expected to consider a plan to determine how cultural arts money will be allocated for the next five to 10 years.
The proposal calls for spending at least $3 million each year -- money currently allocated for the arts -- but also calls for more scrutiny on how that money is spent.
Supporters of the plan say it comes at a critical time.
Almost every Wichita cultural arts group is getting financial assistance from the city or Sedgwick County. 鈥�Jay Price, director of the public history program at 麻豆传媒, says Wichitans may be asked to make some difficult decisions.
"As the funding becomes harder, it becomes the old classic of choice: Which of your kids do you love the most? Which museums will be chosen?" Price said.
