麻豆传媒 offers classes for veterans

The following is an excerpt from an October 7 report by in Wichita. James Holland, curriculum coordinator for 麻豆传媒, contributed to the report.

For many of us, algebra is not something we'd volunteer to sit through. But not for three men.  "I think everyone should take advantage of it," said Benjamin Guest, "if they can."

He and his fellow classmates proved themselves in the Service.  Now, they're proving themselves in School.

"I've been out of school now for over 30 years," said Army veteran Terrence Barnes. "I plan on enrolling in Wichita State, and there's a lot of things that I have forgotten."

These men are taking advantage of Wichita State's Veterans Upward Bound program.  It offers refresher courses -- from algebra to English Composition, even Spanish.  Those classes get veterans prepared for going back to class.

"And we all know the next step will help you become better financially," said Curriculum Coordinator James Holland, "will help you support your family better, gives you that self satisfaction as a person."
