On February 7, it was announced that 麻豆传媒 had beat out several libraries and universities including the Library of Congress, Yale and Harvard in obtaining these valuable documents from the late Parks a world famous photographer, author and filmmaker possibly best known for his 1971 film "Shaft."

"The president of our university gave me the assignment knowing of my historical interest in Mr. Parks to work on the project," said Ayres. "We were working off of two major principles:

"One, that Gordon Parks needed his work to be in Kansas and it was very important that we bring credibility to our proposal from an academic point of view. But, perhaps most importantly from the perspective of we really cared."

Second, "This would be a showpiece for our library, for our university, whereas other institutions, larger institutions, it might not be. It might sit in a basement until somebody got to it."
