Coming soon: New food options at Wichita State

  • New and healthier dining options are coming to the campus community.
  • Sono, a fresh Mexican concept, will replace Taco Bell.
  • GroundHouse will switch to Wichita-owned Reverie Coffee Roasters.

A new food service contract at 麻豆传媒 will bring new and healthier dining options for the campus community.

Starting July 1, Chartwells will be the new food contractor for Wichita State. The contract with Sodexo Inc. expires June 30, and after a request for proposal (RFP) process, Chartwells was awarded the 5-year contract.

Here's what will change:

  • The Taco Bell in the Rhatigan Student Center (RSC) will be replaced with Sono, a fresh Mexican concept 鈥� similar to Chipotle 鈥� where customers are given full control of their meal, allowing for numerous combinations. Customers can choose between tacos, burritos, ensaladas, rice bowls and tortas. They can then add desired components such as freshly prepared proteins, toppings and salsas. Construction will begin in July, and Sono will be open for the fall semester.
  • The Erbert & Gerberts, also in the RSC, is being replaced with Mondo Subs, a retail brand that offers high-quality unique gourmet sub sandwiches, flatbreads, signature sides and warm homemade spiced chips. Construction will begin in July, and Mondo Subs will be open for the fall semester.
  • Starting July 5, The GroundHouse coffee shop in Shocker Hall will switch from offering Starbucks products to Wichita-owned Reverie Coffee Roasters. GroundHouse will continue to offer on-the-go meal and snack items.
  • Fast Break in the RSC will operate as usual during the fall 2017 semester. Over the winter break it will transform into a full Starbucks, open in time for the spring semester.

There will be no major changes at Chick-fil-A, Pizza Hut or Shocker Hall Dining although Shocker Hall Dining will feature new operating hours this fall. All existing catering reservations and resident dining plans will be honored. All current hourly Sodexo employees are able to be hired on with Chartwells at their current rate as long as they pass the background check.
