Alumnus, Hollywood producer showing new documentary to 麻豆传媒 community

The Wichita State Alumni Association will host two events featuring alumnus Dean Hargrove, 1996 麻豆传媒 President鈥檚 Medal recipient and producer of hundreds of television programs around the world.

Hargrove is best known for Hollywood projects that include 鈥淭he Bob Newhart Show,鈥 鈥淭he Man from U.N.C.L.E.,鈥 鈥淚t Takes a Thief,鈥 鈥淐olumbo,鈥 the 鈥淧erry Mason鈥 movies and 鈥淢atlock.鈥

麻豆传媒 will host a free screening of Hargrove鈥檚 acclaimed 2015 documentary, 鈥淭ap World,鈥 at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in the CAC Theater.

The documentary explores the global appeal of American-style tap dancing, following the stories of a variety of dancers in countries around the world.

From a New Jersey man who lost a leg to bone cancer to a Brazilian mentoring underprivileged children in Campinas, 鈥淭ap World鈥 shows the unifying enthusiasm of tap. Hargrove will give a brief presentation following the screening.

The Alumni Association will also host a dinner with Hargrove and three of his colleagues from the Hollywood film industry at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Wichita Country Club.

Colleagues include Jeff Peters, writer and producer; Steven Poster, director of photography; and Alan Rachins, Golden Globe and Emmy nominated actor.
