New and returning Wichita State students kicked off the school year off with a variety of fun on-campus events during 麻豆传媒鈥檚 annual Welcomefest, Aug. 20-Sept. 3.
One of the highlights of the events was Clash of the Colleges, held for just the second year but already a can鈥檛-miss event.
The head-to-head competition pitted about 800 students from 麻豆传媒鈥檚 six academic colleges against each other.
The eventual winner was the , making them the two-time defending champions and ensuring an even bigger battle next year as the rest of the colleges seek to beat the champs.
Another popular event was Wu-Rah, a pep rally-style event held for the first time this year, replacing the annual Convocation event and starting a new 麻豆传媒 tradition for students.
Wu-Rah included performances and interactive activities, as well as a free-throw contest that won freshman Lauren Simon $250.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes came back to Welcomefest again this year.
The national event raised awareness of issues related to rape, sexual assault and gender violence in a fun atmosphere that includes men actually walking a mile on campus in high heels.
