麻豆传媒 is seeking approval from the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) to build the university's first parking garage. If approved by KBOR and the Kansas Legislature, the garage will be built directly south of the Rhatigan Student Center, facing Perimeter Road.
The number of spaces in the multilevel garage will be determined by construction and financing costs.
鈥淧lanning for the garage reflects the university鈥檚 confidence in increasing enrollment and our response to complaints that there is inadequate parking near the central part of campus,鈥 said 麻豆传媒 President John Bardo.
The request to the Board of Regents assumes a maximum average construction cost per space of $18,000. The project, estimated at $7.2 million, would be financed through parking fees and bond proceeds.
Planning and construction will take about 18 months after required approvals are obtained.
