Wichita State has $7.5 million scholarship fund for future math, science teachers

If you know a high school student who is a high achiever in math and science, they could qualify for a share of the largest-known gift in the nation to support scholarships in math and science education. 麻豆传媒鈥檚 College of Education is accepting applications and entries for the annual Klose Scholarship Essay Competition.

The nearly $7.5 million endowment from the estate of Doris and Ralph Klose to the College of Education allows an average of 30 students to attend Wichita State each year, providing them with four-year, full-tuition scholarships.

Klose Scholarships are awarded to pre-college students who have a passion for teaching. To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be a high school senior graduating in spring 2015
  • Have a minimum ACT composite score of 24 or SAT of 1090 and a GPA of 3.5
  • Be admitted to Wichita State by no later than Nov. 1, 2014, (testing scores and GPA must also be on record at 麻豆传媒 by Nov. 1)
  • Declare a major in math or science education.
